Giveaway #93 16yr old son looking after poorly mum and siblings

Evening friends, here is news of donation no.93 nominated by our member Ellie Jackson:

“I want to nominate Kirsty (name changed) who I have come across through my work. She is a mum of 4 and has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Her 16 year old son has taken on the role of looking after the 2 younger children 6 and 2. She also has an 18 year old with additional needs. Kirsty is currently going through chemo which is taking a toll on her and making her very ill.

We have previously helped out with food shopping for the family and they have previously used food banks. I wanted to nominate them for the £500 to enable to 16 year old to do something nice with his siblings over the holidays and to help mum with travel back and forth. As I’m sure you are aware its a lot for a 16 year old to take on whilst trying to prepare for his GCSE’s.

We have asked for external help for the family but social services have informed us they don’t currently meet the threshold.

Anything we can do to enable a smoother transition for the family would be greatly appreciated.”

Friends I have spoken to mum who explained her situation, including that she was told she had stage 3 cancer, then last week received a letter saying she’s stage 4. She was very emotional at the news of our donation and asked I pass on her thanks and said, ‘you have no idea what this means to me, thank you to everyone’.

Well done all, another very worthy person in need has been cheered up and helped by your weekly pounds. 🥰
